The Objectives

Our client’s stunning self-build home featured on Kevin McCloud’s Grand Designs, billed as one of the most ambitious homes the show has ever seen and described by the presenter as reminiscent of a coiled snake. This couple had dreamed of building a home that resembled a fossil shell, drawing on their skills from their work as an engineer and horticulturist. They took inspiration from an ammonite shell found on their land. Their build was the result of magnificent attention to the finest detail throughout the property and they required doors that matched that level of quality and intricacy.

Deuren's Solution

We worked closely with our clients to recommend and design internal doors that were big on detail and would beautifully complement the fine work seen throughout the rest of the property. They decided on Trem Glass doors, which were perfectly in keeping with the glazed and glass features found throughout the house and facilitate the flow of natural light via their central glass panel. Vario 3 doors were also installed with a natural oak finish. One of these was a hinged door in the style of a barn door. It opens in two sections and was designed with the couple’s dogs in mind. We were careful to be mindful of their specific requirements for internal doors that play just as much a design role as the features in the rest of the house.

Magnificent attention to the finest detail throughout the property.
